Seventh Annual Cherokee Ancestry Conference in Tahlequah, OK

PARK HILL, Okla. – Discover how you can trace your family’s ancestors by attending the
Seventh Annual Cherokee Ancestry Conference on Friday, June 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.
m. and Saturday, June 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Tsa La Gi Community Room,
located behind the Restaurant of the Cherokees/Cherokee Nation Gift Shop Building,
Tahlequah, OK, capital of the Cherokee Nation.  The location is a part of the Cherokee
Nation Tribal Complex on Hwy 62.
Keynote Speaker on Saturday will be Dr. Daniel F. Littlefield, Jr. Director, Sequoyah
Research Center, University of Arkansas. He will discuss various removal detachments of
the Trail of Tears.  Other leading experts include Gene Norris, CGSM, Cherokee Heritage
Center, Senior Genealogist; Barbara Becker Meehan, CGSM, FTGS Proprietor, Professional
Genealogist; Roy Hamilton, Cherokee Genealogist, president Cherokee Arts & Humanities
Council; Thomas G. Mooney, Archivist, Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc.; Ryan B.
Mackey, Planning Analyst II, Cherokee Nation.
Conference attendees will be invited to a reception at the CHC on Friday evening where they
will have an opportunity to meet the speakers. The conference will conclude Saturday with
a question and answer session. Door prizes will also be given between sessions.
Pre-conference registration fees are $70 for CNHS members and $85 for non-members.
These fees will increase to $80 and $95 respectively after May 18.
This conference happens only once a year.  Come see why the Cherokee Ancestry
